Senior Commissioning Officer – Children’s Social Care
3-month interim contract to start immediately

South East
£400 per day

Inside IR35 (via umbrella)
Remote/ Hybrid working

Location: Working from home is negotiable and dependent on work/support needed but could be 1 or 2 days in office.

Working with Commissioning Managers, you will support with the development and implementation of commissioning plans and strategies on behalf of Children’s Services and Education an integrated approach to commissioning.
 

Your Role as the Senior Commissioning Officer: 

  • Lead and independently manage elements of commissioning activity and/or smaller projects within the portfolio as delegated by Commissioning Manager.
  • Ensuring sufficient, affordable, quality care provision is available locally both now and, in the future.
  • Implementing innovations in the way the council commissions care for local people to increase choice and control.
  • Provide additional support at a higher level than currently available from Commissioning Officers to enable the Commissioning Manager to successfully manage a much larger portfolio of Children’s commissioned provision and strategies than currently allocated.
  • Prepare and present a wide range of reports, strategies and influencing documents for both internal and external audiences including Joint Commissioning Board

Your previous experience as the Senior Commissioning Officer:

  • Relevant professional qualification or education qualification or relevant professional experience within Commissioning environment.
  • Good knowledge and understanding of public sector commissioning cycle and its application.
  • Knowledge of key policy, legislation and guidance relating to Children’s commissioning.
  • Ability to think strategically and consider impact of ideas on the wider system and over the long term.
  • Awareness of local care and/or preventative provision and impact of market dynamics on the council.
  • Contribute to driving forward the development and implementation of commissioning strategies.
  • Available references for most recent 2 year’s roles and Enhanced DBS will be required.
