Are you ready to step into a high-impact role where you will shape the future of SEND provision?

As an Assistant Director for SEND Transformation, you will report directly into the Director of Education, driving a complex transformation agenda across education and health. You will take ownership of a significant reform programme focused on SEND sufficiency, financial sustainability, and system-wide change ahead of 2029 reforms. This is your opportunity as Strategic SEND Reform Lead to lead strategy, influence senior stakeholders, and deliver lasting impact across a 0–25 SEND system.

As the Assistant Director for SEND Transformation, you will be at the forefront of designing and delivering a credible Local SEND Reform Plan—ensuring it is fully costed, deliverable and aligned to national priorities whilst improving outcomes for children and young people.

Your role as the Assistant Director for SEND Transformation:

  • Lead SEND Reform strategy for 2029, aligning education, health and system-wide priorities
  • Drive delivery of a financially sustainable Local SEND Reform Plan
  • Provide strategic leadership on SEND sufficiency, inclusion and early intervention
  • Strengthen governance, assurance and accountability across programmes
  • Oversee capital planning, resource strategy and value for money delivery

This is a pivotal leadership role where your ability to connect strategy with delivery will be critical. You will work closely with finance leads, including High Needs Block transformation, ensuring a whole-system approach to rebalancing provision.

Your experience as an Assistant Director for SEND Transformation:

  • Proven experience leading SEND transformation and reform programmes
  • Strong track record in financial sustainability and DSG recovery planning
  • Expertise in sufficiency planning, place planning and capital strategy
  • Demonstrable leadership across education, health and multi-agency systems
  • Ability to drive data-led decision making and large-scale change
