£500-550 per day DOE

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Strategic Lead within SEND within a small Local Authority to lead and develop services in respect of SEND and Inclusion. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Education you will be responsible for leading and managing SEND and Inclusion services ensuring positive outcomes by way of consultation and policy reviews.

As Strategic lead you will be managing staff members across SEND, Educational Psychology and Inclusion therefore it is essential that you have worked in a similar role within a Local Authority setting across multi-discipline areas. You will be tasked with developing transformational change across SEND in order to identify and deliver cost savings and drive performance.

Your responsibilities as Interim Strategic Lead for SEND –

  • Ensure through the provision of services that children are safe and achieving good outcomes.
  • Maintain, develop and lead key strategic collaborative relationships with Health, Social Care, other partners including the Parent Carer Forum to evaluate the impact of outcomes for children and young people.
  • Work collaboratively with parents, Health partners and Social Care colleagues so that they are fully involved in the co-production of the work of the service.
  • Work in partnership with strategic senior managers from external partner agencies to ensure the effective on-going implementation, analysis, performance review and delivery of the implementation of the SEND reforms, with a specific focus on SEND statutory functions.
  • Lead on the positive engagement and full participation of all relevant service areas, including Health and inhouse commissioners, to development effective joint commissioning arrangements which effectively meet the needs of the children and young people.
  • Lead on the strategic implementation, co-ordination and delivery of the integrated assessment, and Education, Health and Care Plans for children and young people up to 25 years.
  • Develop, monitor and maintain quality assurance processes including the use of information and intelligence activity in the system to influence and contribute to the SEND strategy, with a clear focus on outcomes for children and young people.

    Your previous experience as a SEND Leader –  

 

  • A proven track record of change management and transformation management in a senior management role for a local authority – Ideally this will be in line with the government agenda in respect of SEND
  • Clear evidence of a strong track record of leading major projects or change initiatives.
  • Experience of working within a Local Authority (This is essential)
  • Attended strategic and multi-agency meetings in a representative capacity
  • Lead cross functional teams in high pressure settings and budgetary management
  • Specialised understanding SEND and Inclusion across all facets
