Are you an experienced leader in Children’s Social Care looking for your next challenge? As Service Manager for Children in Care, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the lives of children and young people, leading a dedicated social work service that delivers safe, stable and ambitious care planning. Reporting into the Head of Service, you will drive service improvement, champion trauma-informed practice and ensure children’s voices remain at the heart of every decision.

This is an exciting opportunity for a Service Manager for Children in Care to influence strategic direction, lead transformational change and work collaboratively with partners to improve permanence, stability and outcomes for children in care.

Your Role as Service Manager for Children in Care:
• Lead child-centred care planning focused on safety, stability, permanence and wellbeing
• Drive service improvement, embedding relational and trauma-informed practice across teams
• Ensure excellent performance management, quality assurance and statutory compliance
• Develop strong partnerships that improve placement stability, education, health outcomes and lifelong relationships
• Represent the service with senior stakeholders, regional partners and elected Members

Your Previous Experience as Service Manager for Children in Care:
• Significant leadership experience within statutory children’s social care services and Family Safeguarding environments
• Proven ability to lead high-performing teams, manage complex services and deliver sustainable improvement
• Strong knowledge of Children in Care services, permanence planning and lifelong networks
• Experience managing substantial budgets, resources and service performance effectively
• Qualified Social Worker with current Social Work England registration and strong understanding of Ofsted and statutory frameworks
