Did you know that 1 in 5 people are neurodivergent? This week, we’re recognising Neurodiversity Celebration Week at Baltimore Consulting; an important reminder that every workplace includes a wide range of thinking styles and it’s our responsibility to create environments where everyone feels valued, understood, and supported.
At Baltimore Consulting, we’re committed to continually strengthening our neuroinclusive culture. We celebrate differences, listen to lived experiences, and ensure our people have a genuine voice in shaping the organisation. Through our internal People and Community Forum, employees have a safe, open space to discuss matters relating to EDIB, mental health and wellbeing, charity, community, and environmental impact. This unified voice helps us drive positive change from within.
We know that equality, diversity, inclusion, and belonging aren’t tick box exercises. They are ongoing commitments.
While we’re proud of the progress we’ve made, we also recognise there is always more to learn, improve and embed.
Creating Safe Spaces and Empowering Voices
We want everyone at Baltimore Consulting to feel empowered to advocate for themselves and to access what they need to succeed. That begins with an environment where people feel safe, understood, and respected.
Wellbeing plays a central role in how we support our team. We have introduced:
- Dedicated silent spaces and breakout areas to reduce overwhelm and support sensory regulation
- An enhanced mental health and wellbeing plan, including six trained Mental Health First Aiders
- Flexible working opportunities to help people structure their work in ways that suit their needs
- A weekly wellbeing hour, where employees can take paid time to prioritise their health
- Wellbeing Wednesdays, offering an hour off during the day to decompress
We also believe in the power of continual personal development. Each employee receives a two hour monthly personal development window to explore training, webinars, events, podcasts, or reading, supporting growth in ways that suit different learning styles.
Our commitment extends to leadership, too.
Our CEO has completed additional neurodiversity training in Asperger’s Syndrome and Autism Awareness, and our Director of People has completed a programme on Autism, Asperger’s and ADHD through the University of Derby. Developing an empowered, informed leadership team ensures we can better support our neurodivergent colleagues across the organisation.
Driving Change Beyond Our Organisation
Baltimore Consulting is proud to be part of the Neurodiversity in Business (NiB) initiative – a government supported programme helping employers create better, more accessible workplaces for neurodivergent people and empowering individuals to build independent, meaningful careers.
Our Commitment to Our People
The health and wellbeing of our team, both mental and physical, is central to our success.
Without our people, Baltimore Consulting simply wouldn’t exist. We lead with openness, authenticity and compassion, and we encourage our employees to do the same.
We’re proud to do things differently.
It’s in our DNA.
