Bristol business raise £40,000 for CRUK

Bristol-based SME, Baltimore Consulting, are delighted to announce that they have surpassed their £40,000 fundraising milestone for Cancer Research UK (CRUK).

Charity contribution is an integral aspect of Baltimore Consulting’s business model and CRUK’s work is not only a cause that is extremely close to CEO, Charmaine Vincent’s heart, but the wider business as well.

As a business, we have seen the effects of cancer first-hand. We’ve felt the impact, and experienced the heartache caused from losing someone you love to cancer. This is what keeps us all motivated and encourages us to continually push the boundaries when it comes to fundraising.

In 2021, we were awarded Corporate Fundraising Team of the Year at CRUK’s Flame of Home Awards, having been nominated by the charity themselves in recognition of our efforts.

As our charity of choice, Baltimore Consulting have raised over £40,000 for the charity since November 2019, through undertaking several fundraising initiatives and challenges, from celebrity hosted gala dinners and auctions, to skydives and walking challenges.

World Cancer Day 2023 fell on Saturday 4th February, and this year ten courageous employees abseiled 150 feet down Abseil Quarry in Somerset, raising £5,085 in total.

The vital funds we have raised for CRUK, can pay for a Research Nurse working on a clinical trial’s salary for one year.

£40,000 will also buy a Sonicator, which is a piece of equipment that’s vital for making nanoparticles. This allows Cancer Research UK’s scientists to study whether nanotechnology could be used to beat cancer.

Knowing what this money can buy gives everyone at Baltimore Consulting an enormous sense of pride, and we can’t wait to continue our fundraising efforts in a bid to raise £100,000.

Charmaine Vincent, CEO of Baltimore Consulting, states:

“To have exceeded £40,000 worth of donations for Cancer Research UK as a direct result of our fundraising efforts is truly phenomenal and a real emotional milestone for us here at Baltimore Consulting. Each and every one of us are passionate about making a difference, and to be able to play such a huge part in helping to save lives is completely humbling.

I’ve personally seen first-hand the heart ache caused through losing someone you love to Cancer, as have many of us working at Baltimore Consulting, and this alone keeps us motivated to push the boundaries when fundraising. Small acts of kindness really do make a huge difference and we will continue to go that extra mile.”

Cancer Research UK’s determination to beat the disease hasn’t faltered since the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic; the charity are more focussed than ever on their ambition of seeing 3 in 4 people survive their cancer by 2034.

However, their progress relies on the incredible dedication and commitment of volunteers without whom they would not be able to fund life-saving work.

One in two of us will get cancer in our lifetime. All of us can support the research that will beat it.

Louise Gash, Local Fundraising Manager, states:

“On behalf of CRUK, I am truly grateful for the amazing effort that Baltimore Consulting have put into raising these vital funds to beat cancer. Supporting the team with their fundraising continues to be an absolute joy. Their passion and commitment to fighting this horrible disease shines through in everything they do, and is what drives them to overcome personal fears and challenges along the way. The support of companies such as Baltimore is vital to continue our research so that together we can beat cancer.”
