Project Manager – Highways
9-12 months – immediate start
£400 per day
Inside IR35 (via umbrella)
Hybrid working – ideally 3 days per week onsite

This role will require the post holder to start no later than the 20th July.

Are you an experienced Project Manager ready to take ownership of a high-volume programme of highway maintenance and infrastructure projects?

You will be stepping into a fast-paced environment where your expertise will directly influence delivery, stakeholder confidence, and project outcomes. As a Project Manager, you will take the lead on complex programmes, working closely with senior stakeholders, elected members, and contractors to deliver high-impact infrastructure schemes, on time and within budget.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a Project Manager who thrives on accountability, leadership, and tangible results. You will be managing multiple projects simultaneously while ensuring quality, compliance, and value for money across the programme.

Your Role as Assistant Project Manager:

• Lead highway maintenance & infrastructure projects from development through to delivery
• Drive programme management across high-volume workloads with tight deadlines
• Manage and challenge contractors, ensuring performance and accountability
• Deliver strong stakeholder engagement, including elected members and community groups
• Oversee budgets, risk, and compliance, ensuring value for money and project success

Your previous experience as an Assistant Project Manager:

• Proven local authority experience delivering infrastructure or highway projects
• Strong design knowledge with hands-on project delivery experience
• Demonstrated ability managing large-scale programmes under pressure
• Expertise in budget management and financial control
• Minimum 10 years’ experience in highway maintenance environments
