Are you ready to step into a high-impact leadership role where you will shape regulatory services across multiple authorities?

As Service Lead – Public Protection, you will report into the Service Director and take ownership of a £3 million budget, leading four direct reports and a wider service of around 100 staff. This is a unique opportunity to drive strategy, influence senior stakeholders and deliver critical services that protect communities.

Your role as Service Lead – Public Protection:

  • Lead multi-disciplinary services including Environmental Health, Licensing, Trading Standards and Civil Contingencies
    • Provide strategic advice to senior leadership, Members and corporate boards
    • Drive service transformation, efficiency and income generation across shared services
    • Ensure robust regulatory compliance and enforcement, aligned to legislation and best practice
    • Deliver strong leadership and performance management, fostering a high-performing culture

Your experience as Service Lead – Public Protection:

  • Proven senior leadership experience in a public protection or regulatory environment
    • Strong track record of delivering organisational change and transformation
    • Experience of financial management, including budget control and value-for-money delivery
    • Demonstrable success in partnership working across complex stakeholder environments
    • Ability to influence, negotiate and lead at a strategic level within a local authority setting
