Service Improvement Lead – Family Safeguarding & Adolescents
Initial 6-month interim contract
West Midlands, full-time hybrid, 2-3 days on site per week
£500-550 per day through FCSA Umbrella

An exciting new interim opportunity has arisen within a Local Authority in the West Midlands for a Service Improvement Lead – Family Safeguarding & Adolescents. You will report to the Assistant Director for Children’s Social Care and the key focus of this role will be the strategic improvement of the services, including coaching of staff and mentorship.
 
The role will collaborate with both leaders in the service, the current Head of Service and external partners to drive improvements across both social work practice, support with Ofsted readiness and partnership engagement.
 
About your duties as the Service Improvement Lead – Family Safeguarding & Adolescents, Children’s Social Care: 

  • Support the ongoing delivery of the Family Safeguarding Model and sustain its approach.
  • Oversight and support of the management of the multi-agency area safeguarding arrangements and children’s partnerships.
  • Lead on preparation for inspections, peer reviews and contribute with other Directors and Heads of Service in the drawing together of the directorate self-assessment.
  • Advise the Executive Leadership Team and Elected Members on appropriate strategies and policies required to deliver the job purpose. A good understanding of the political context at regional and local level and working in a constructive and sensitive way.
  • Drive Improvement within the Service across practice and Ofsted Readiness

 
Your experience needed: 

  • Social work qualified and active registration with SWE
  • 5 years full references & Enhanced DBS with barred list check
  • Proven track record as a Head of Service in Children’s Services
  • Managed or part managed Family Safeguarding & Adolescent services
  • Experience working within a Local Authority setting
  • Proven track record around Ofsted Inspection readiness and achieving “Good” ratings.
  • Experience in training and developing staff members
