I’m currently working with a Council in London that are seeking an experienced and dedicated Specialist Advisory Teacher for an initial 3 month contract who are looking for someone who is a SEMH specialist.
As a Specialist Advisory Teacher within SEMH, you will play a crucial role in supporting the educational and emotional needs of students facing social, emotional, and mental health challenges. Your primary focus will be to provide expert advice, strategies, and interventions to promote the overall well-being and academic success of students.
In order to be considered for this role, you must have previously worked as a Specialist Advisory Teacher within a local authority setting.

Your responsibilities as Interim Specialist Advisory Teacher: –  
 

  • Conduct thorough assessments of students with SEMH needs and develop tailored intervention plans to address their specific challenges.
  • Work closely with teaching staff, parents, and external agencies to create a collaborative and supportive network for students with SEMH needs.
  • Deliver training sessions for teaching staff on effective strategies for managing and supporting students with SEMH difficulties.
  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students, helping them build resilience, coping strategies, and social skills.
  • Regularly assess and monitor the progress of students with SEMH needs, adjusting intervention plans as necessary to ensure positive outcomes.

Your previous experience as Interim Specialist Advisory Teacher: –  
 

  • The ability to assess and provide support plans for individual children with complex needs in main stream school with the ability to model and upskill school staff to enable them to meet the needs of identified pupils. 
  • The ability to develop and deliver engaging training sessions for teaching staff and excellent communication skills both written and oral. 
  • Secondary experience would be a distinct advantage. 
  • SEMH background and practical knowledge.
