Job Title: Service Lead for Commissioning & Procurement
Contract Length: 3-month initial interim contract
Location: Home Counties Local Authority, Full time hybrid
Pay rate: £500 per day
IR35 Status: Inside IR35
 
I am currently working with a Home Counties Based Local Authority in their search for an experienced Local Government Commissioning or Procurement professional for 3-month initial interim contract to join their Service Lead.

Your duties as a Service Lead:

• Reporting to the Service Director, you will lead procurement and commissioning teams, contributing to the production and delivery of the councils strategy through the services they procure and commissioning.
• Within this role you will be providing advice to the directors and senior leaders around strategic direction for these services and act as an advisor and subject matter expert within procurement.
• Manage a small team of procurement professionals and support the Commercial Services Manager in the planning, management and delivery of the procurement service, with the aim to deliver a efficient and responsive service for the council.
• You will lead on all necessary procurement and contract compliance, whilst maximising value for money for the authority in the services that it procures.
• You will work across the children’s and adult social care service, ensuring effective purchasing arrangements for approved care and support plans from needs less assessments.

 
Experience needed for this role:

• Demonstrable experience of working in a local authority procurement and commissioning setting.
• Have the ability to lead on projects that are both complex and dynamic, with the ability to work across various directorates.
• Have the ability to lead from the front and demonstrate a management style that drives development of a team and its processes.
