Senior Project Manager – Capital Projects

£450 – £500 per day

You must be able to be onsite 2-3 days per week

Reporting onto the Programme Manager for Capital Projects, you will be responsible for leading multidisciplinary teams and manage contractors to deliver capital projects on time, within budget, and to the highest quality. The Capital projects will include school condition works such as roof replacements, boiler and ASHP upgrades, and decarbonisation initiatives.

Our client is looking for someone who is able to clearly demonstrate and articulate the scope, methodology, timeline, and outcomes of projects you have led, including the processes followed and key deliverables achieved.
 
Your role as a Senior Project Manager:

  • Oversee a programme of low to medium complexity projects, identifying opportunities for efficiency and innovation.
  • Manage procurement processes for consultants and contractors, including tendering and contract administration.
  • Ensure robust design and risk management practices are in place throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders, including councillors and planning authorities.
  • Provide mentorship to junior project staff and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

 
Your previous experience as a Senior Project Manager:

  • Substantial experience in managing capital construction projects within a local authority.
  • Proven background in refurbishment, rebuilding, roofing, and mechanical upgrades (e.g., boilers, ASHPs).
  • Decarbonisation project experience is highly desirable.
  • Strong procurement knowledge, particularly in consultancy and contractor appointment.
  • Demonstrable experience in design coordination and risk management.
  • A collaborative team player who can hit the ground running and deliver results from day one.
  • Ability to clearly articulate project outcomes, personal contributions, and the value delivered.
  • Strong project management credentials – APM or PRINCE2 preferred.
