We are looking to appoint a SEND Team Manager for the locality team on an Interim basis within a northwest based Local Authority. The purpose of the role is to oversee and manage the locality SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disability) team and to be responsible for the standards and delivery of the statutory assessment of children and young people (0-25) who may require special education, health and care provision.  
 
To lead in the development of SEND you will ensure the effective joint working, participation and liaison with the child or young person, their family and associated professionals. You will ensure improved outcomes for the child and their family that are measurable and monitored, enabling the child to achieve and reach their aspirations.
 
Job Role

  • Oversee and manage the day-to-day operations of the SEND team
  • Oversea and manage the statutory EHCP assessment process, provision and review for children and young people with SEND under the education Act 1996, Children and Family Act 2014, SEN Code of Practice 2014 and Equality Act 2010. From 0-25 age range.
  • Lead a locality team of 9 Case officers, ensuring performance and statutory responsibilities are met
  • Take a strategic lead role for a service area/s within the SEND service.
  • Provide advice and support to the service in relation to highly complex cases; respond to complaints from children, young people and their families, supporting staff in resolving matters and representing the Local Authority as required.

 
Essential Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice
  • Experience working within SEN/D in a local authority setting
  • Experience in managing complex cases, problem-solving and solution-finding
  • Line management or supervisory experience
  • Experience dealing with Stage 1 & Stage 2 complaints and mediations
  • Hold a current enhanced DBS certificate
