About the Role

As SEND Team Leader, you will play a vital role in ensuring high-quality service delivery to children and young people with SEND. Reporting to the SEND Operations Manager, you’ll oversee operational functions, lead a team of dedicated professionals, and maintain compliance with statutory frameworks, including the Children and Families Act 2014 and the SEND Code of Practice.
Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing and supporting a team of Senior SEN Case Officers, Case Officers, and Assistants, ensuring effective case management.
  • Overseeing EHC Needs Assessments and annual review processes, embedding reflective and qualitative practices.
  • Ensuring children’s and young people’s voices inform service delivery and foster aspirational outcomes.
  • Developing strong partnerships with schools and education providers, using relational approaches to drive positive experiences.
  • Handling complex cases and providing legally robust advice as required.
  • Making strategic decisions regarding funding for EHC Plans in line with governance.
  • Leading on the development of compliance, quality assurance, and continuous improvement systems.
  • Representing the service in meetings with local area partners and advising on strategic developments.
  • This role will have up to five direct reports and overall responsibility for a team of up to ten members.

About You

We’re looking for a dynamic leader with extensive experience in SEND at a management level. You’ll have:

  • A comprehensive understanding of SEND legislation and a proven track record of implementing it effectively.
  • Strong experience in managing complex cases, ensuring solutions are child-centred and outcome-focused.
  • The ability to develop and manage systems related to compliance, quality assurance, and continuous service improvement.
  • Experience working collaboratively with diverse partners to inform service delivery and drive improvement.
  • Excellent leadership skills, with a history of supporting and developing teams to achieve high standards.
  • The ability to present and advocate for the service in various forums.

Work Environment
You’ll spend at least 60% of your working time in the Camden community, building relationships and influencing practice across the SEND Local Area.
