SEND Commissioning Officer (Interim)  
North London Local Authority 
Hybrid – 1-2 days per week on-site 
£400 per day (inside IR35) 
Initial 3-month contract | Interviews next week | Potential start: 10th March 2025  
 
A North London Local Authority is seeking an experienced SEND Commissioning Officer for an initial 3-month interim contract. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in the commissioning of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) services, ensuring high-quality support for children and young people in the borough. 
Key Responsibilities: 

  • Lead on the commissioning and delivery of SEND services, ensuring alignment with local and national strategies. 
  • Support the development of commissioning plans and frameworks to enhance service provision. 
  • Provide insight and analysis to inform strategic decision-making – data expertise would be highly beneficial
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams, external partners, and stakeholders to drive service improvements. 
  • Ensure services are cost-effective, high-quality, and focused on positive outcomes for children and young people. 

Key Requirements: 

  • Proven experience in SEND commissioning within a Local Authority or public sector setting. 
  • Strong understanding of SEND policy, legislation, and best practices
  • Analytical skills, with the ability to interpret and utilize data to inform commissioning decisions
  • Ability to work independently, manage workloads effectively, and engage with stakeholders at all levels. 
  • No direct line management responsibilities – this role is focused purely on service commissioning.
