I’m working with a Local Authority that’s on the look out for an Interim Repairs Surveyor.

Reporting into the Repairs Manager, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality repairs across the council’s housing stock, including 10,500 homes, 3,000 garages, and 700 commercial properties.

Your responsibilities include diagnosing faults, managing contractors, and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, all while maintaining excellent customer satisfaction.

About the Repairs Surveyor role:

  • Manage day-to-day repairs and safety inspections across domestic and commercial properties
  • Diagnose building faults and specify effective remedial works
  • Support housing officers with complex technical issues and no-access cases
  • Raise and monitor accurate works orders and variations
  • Ensure compliance with CDM, asbestos, and wider H&S regulations
  • Liaise with contractors and legal teams on disrepair claims and insurance-related works
  • Act as expert witness in court proceedings related to property claims
  • Contribute to budget management, service improvement, and performance targets

About you as a Repairs Surveyor:

  • Hold a Higher National Certificate or equivalent in a relevant field
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in building surveying and contract administration
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, building faults, and health & safety legislation
  • Experience working with tenants, leaseholders, and non-technical staff
  • Experience in Revenues repairs service and a background in working on residential and commercial properties
  • Full UK driving licence
