£700-£800 per day umbrella (negotiable dependent upon experience)

6-month interim contract 
Hybrid working & part time/compressed working patterns considered.

As a Principal Educational Psychologist, you will take the reins of a pivotal service within the Education Directorate, leading a team of skilled professionals while influencing strategic direction at a senior level.

This Principal Educational Psychologist opportunity offers real autonomy, visibility with senior leadership, and the chance to deliver meaningful change at pace.  

You’ll be joining at a pivotal time and reporting to the Director of Education ensuring statutory delivery during a significant period of national reform, perfect for an Interim Principal Educational Psychologist who thrives on transformation, enjoys driving improvement and wants to leave a lasting legacy.  

Your role as Principal Educational Psychologist:

  • Strategic Leadership – shape and deliver the vision for Educational Psychology services
  • Service Transformation – lead improvement programmes, tackle backlogs, and enhance outcomes
  • Operational Oversight – manage day-to-day service delivery and statutory responsibilities
  • People Leadership – supervise, coach, and develop Educational Psychologists and trainees
  • Multi-agency Influence – advise senior leaders and drive collaboration across education, health, and care

Your experience as Principal Educational Psychologist:

  • Senior Leadership Expertise within Educational Psychology services
  • Strong track record in service improvement and transformation
  • In-depth knowledge of SEND Code of Practice and statutory duties
  • Proven ability in stakeholder engagement at senior level
  • Experience managing budgets, resources, and performance within a Local Authority setting
