Are you ready to step into a leadership role where your expertise shapes lives, drives compliance and sets the standard for inclusive practice? This is a high‑impact opportunity to lead a specialist service, managing up to 10 professionals and working directly with the Head of SEND and Inclusion as part of the senior leadership team. With accountability for complex decision‑making, funding approvals and service improvement, this role gives you real influence and visibility from day one. This SEN Team Leader position offers pace, challenge, and purpose in equal measure.

You will take ownership of operational delivery across the SEND Local Area, ensuring statutory responsibilities are met while strengthening relationships with families, schools, and partners. You will also deputise at senior level, holding complex cases and providing legally robust advice that stands up to scrutiny. This is a role for someone who thrives on responsibility and wants to make meaningful, measurable change.

Your role as SEN Team Leader:

  • Leadership & oversight of statutory EHC needs assessments and annual reviews, driving high levels of compliance.
  • Operational management of Senior Case Officers and Case Officers, embedding reflective and high‑quality practice.
  • Complex case accountability, providing expert, legally sound advice, and funding decisions.
  • Partnership working with education providers to secure aspirational outcomes.
  • Service improvement influence, shaping systems, governance, and future direction.

Your previous experience as a SEN Team Leader:

  • Proven management experience leading SEND services at a senior operational level.
  • Expert knowledge of SEND legislation, including the Children and Families Act and Code of Practice.
  • Strong commissioning insight, including placements, EOTAS and supported pathways.
  • Process leadership across compliance, quality assurance, and continuous improvement.
  • Confident advocacy, representing the service with partners and stakeholders

This SEN Team Leader role suits someone who is solutions‑focused, resilient, and confident making difficult decisions while keeping children and young people at the centre of everything you do. You will be visible, trusted and empowered to lead.
