Independent Chair/IRO – South West England
 
Location: South West England (Hybrid – 2-3 days on-site)
Contract: 3 months initial (potential for extension)
Rate: £48 per hour (interim)
Start Date: ASAP
 
A Local Authority in the South West are seeking two experienced Independent Chairs/IRO’s to join their team on an interim basis. This is a key opportunity to contribute to the safety and well-being of children and young people within the community.

As an Independent Chair/IRO, you will play a crucial role in providing oversight and ensuring the highest standards of care and protection for children. Your responsibilities will include:

• Acting as an Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO) or Child Protection (CP) Chair.
• Reviewing placements and child protection cases to ensure they meet regulatory and best practice standards.
• Offering professional advice and ensuring timely and thorough case reviews.
• Working closely with social workers, team managers, and other stakeholders to deliver effective care plans.
• Writing up case reviews and providing feedback to improve service quality.

 
Your expierence:

• Proven experience as an Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO) or Child Protection Chair (CP).
• Ability to work on a hybrid basis – 2-3 days per week on-site or visiting children in placements.
• Strong knowledge of current social work regulations and best practices.
• A qualified social worker with senior experience (e.g., Team Manager or Service Manager).
• Must hold a valid driving licence – travel to placements will be required
