Head of Service – Children’s 0-25 Disability Service

Baltimore consulting are working with a ‘Good’ authority to appoint an interim Head of Service into the Children and Families Team. You’ll lead the Children’s and Transitions 0-25 service and work in close partnership with the Specialist Communities Disability Services 25+. We’re seeking extensive social care and service leadership experience for this post.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll work together in partnership with the Head of Specialist Community Disability Services 25+ and have a key role in creating a whole life pathway for people with learning disabilities and specifically to ensure a strong and supportive transition phase to prepare young people for adulthood. The service will be committed to co-production with families and service users. You’ll lead a team of Children’s and Transitions Social workers and Early Help and Intervention workers. You will ensure that the full range of statutory duties in relation to disabled children and young adults is carried out to a high standard, including child protection, adult safeguarding, and deprivation of liberty assessments.

What experience you will need to apply

  • You’ll be a qualified social worker with an active Social Work England registration.
  • You will have fantastic knowledge and understanding of the Children’s Disabilities and Transitions offering within a local authority.
  • You’ll have experience of driving great process improvements
  • You’ll be an experienced Service Manager seeking a step up, or a Head of Service seeking a new challenge.

You’ll receive a competitive day rate and have the opportunity to apply for the permanent post once you have completed at least 3 months in post as an interim. You’ll have the autonomy to completely lead the services and implement change and improvements where you see fit.
