Head of Children in Care
Initial 3-5 month interim contract
West Midlands (hybrid working)
Inside IR35 – £500-£550 per day

We have an exciting opportunity to join a strong local authority as an interim Head of Children in Care. Whilst the authority looks to appoint to a permanent post holder, my client is looking to appoint an experienced strategic leader for their Children in Care service for an initial 3-5 month period.
My client will be looking to be appoint this role immediately and looking to review CVs ASAP with a view to start in July. The deadline for CV submission is Monday 27th June.
Essentials skills for role of Head of Children in Care:

  • You will have Senior Management experience within a local authority
  • Leadership experience of managing a portfolio that includes Fostering, Children Looked After, Care Leavers, SGO, Adoption and Residential Services
  • Strong practice focused background with ability to lead services through an improvement agenda
  • Proven track record of strategic thinking to develop innovative and practical responses to a range of management demands
  • Social work England active registration and qualified social worker
  • You will have experience of managing and understanding financial issues related to local authorities

Key focus areas for role of Head of Children in Care:

  • Maintain child centric practice (restorative practice model used)
  • Work in partnership with the Head of Service group to provide synergy to the safeguarding of children system and improve outcomes
  • Strategic and overall responsibility for the timely enactment of the assessments and plans for children in care. To identify cases for early adoption as an example
  • You will support the trust in providing a quality and cost-effective service
  • To work to the six strategic priorities that drive our work; Practice; People; Partnerships; Prevention; Meeting Need; Measuring and Striving for Excellence
