Reporting directly to the Director of Housing and Social Care, this strategic leadership role is central to the delivery of safe, sustainable, and compliant housing across the Council’s owned stock.

You’ll lead high-performing teams and oversee significant capital investment programmes, ensuring alignment with regulatory standards and the Council’s Housing Strategy.

About the Head of Asset Management Role:

  • Lead the Council’s asset management function to deliver safe, decent, energy-efficient homes
  • Oversee neighbourhood and investment planning, asset performance, divestment, and cyclical/planned maintenance
  • Establish a comprehensive 30-year asset management strategy, aligning with regulatory expectations and future-proofing the Council’s housing stock.
  • Implement a detailed and compliant asset register, ensuring full alignment with the Regulator of Social Housing (RSH) standards.
  • Introduce intelligent component life cycle management, enabling “smart” replacement strategies that optimise cost, performance, and sustainability.

 
Your previous experience as Head of Asset Management:

  • Proven leadership in asset management within a social housing or local authority
  • Strong understanding of housing compliance, capital investment, and regulatory frameworks
  • Experience managing large budgets and delivering value-for-money outcomes
  • Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and drive strategic change
  • Commercial awareness and experience securing external funding
  • Commitment to equality, inclusion, and community-focused service delivery
