Fostering Service Manager
9 month interim contract from 1st June 2021 or sooner
Inside IR35 – £400-£500 per day (via umbrella)
North West Local Authority
Full time (3 days onsite presence required per week)

Skype / online interviews due to take place Friday 21st May 2021.

An interim opportunity has arisen to cover Maternity leave for a 9 month period within a North West local authority. Graded Good by Ofsted and with a strong permanent workforce in place, this role will be to support the delivery of the Fostering recruitment improvement agenda and modernisation of their service.

Your duties as Fostering Service Manager

  • Service Lead manager will have oversight and responsibility for Fostering, Residential Services & SGO functions
  • Direct operational oversight of 2 x team Manager and 2 x deputy team manager + Registered Home manager & staff
  • Role will encompass the day to day oversight of the fostering service including some modernisation work which is needed.
  • Some work is required to catch up with the offer provided by the IFAs locally and drive the offering from the council to increase foster carers
  • Leadership of the service lead will need to be a collaborative approach bringing staff on journey with you
  • Authority is Good and well performing so the primary focus of the role is development and modernisation for a clear message and foster carer attraction at all points of their journey.

Experience needed as Fostering Service Manager

  • Experience of working in Children’s Social Care at a Service Manager level within Fostering services is essential for this role
  • Active registration with Social Care England
  • Strong knowledge of regulations and Fostering assessments including the reintroduction of the framework and links to other teams across the children’s directorate.
  • Strong analytical skills to managing data and reports
  • The council operates with Systemic Practice so understanding and experience of this/strengths based practice is essential.
  • Knowledge and demonstrable experience within service redesign is also required /change management
  • Available references for most recent 3 year’s roles.
