Reporting to the Fire Safety Manager, you will work within a highly collaborative environment that partners with departments across the organisation. The team’s shared goal is to minimise fire risks and safeguard both residents and council-owned assets.

About the Fire Safety Surveyor Role:

• Deliver Type 1 Fire Risk Assessments across a diverse residential housing stock, contributing to resident safety and statutory compliance.
• Collaborate closely with the Fire Safety Co-Ordinator to manage workload and schedule, maintaining flexibility and autonomy in day-to-day operations.
• Contribute to ongoing review and monitoring of the Council’s existing FRA portfolio.
• Ensure high technical standards within the Fire Safety Team (FST) through peer collaboration and continuous improvement.
• Act as an integral part of a multidisciplinary team, maintaining strong internal communication and alignment with broader housing safety objectives.
• The Team is comprised of seasoned Fire Risk Assessors and dedicated Fire Safety Co-Ordinators.

 
Your previous experience as a Fire Safety Surveyor:

• Significant experience conducting FRAs on residential buildings, including low, medium, and high-rise schemes.
• Tier 2 (or equivalent) registration with a recognised body such as IFSM, IFE, or CABE.
• Comprehensive understanding of relevant legislation and standards including:
• The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005
• Approved Document B
• Relevant British Standards
• Practical knowledge of active and passive fire safety systems and the impact of various construction methods on fire risk.
