We are looking for an exceptional Finance Business Partner to join our Strategic Finance team at a London Borough. This vital role will lead the financial management of our Dedicated Schools Grant (DSG) Safety Valve Programme, ensuring robust strategies and actionable insights drive the effective allocation of resources.
About the Role
As a key member of our finance team, you will support senior leadership in delivering financial efficiencies and savings targets within the DSG High Needs budget. You’ll combine technical expertise with strategic thinking to influence decisions that have a tangible impact on our community.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and oversee the DSG High Needs budget and the Safety Valve Programme.
  • Provide clear, data-driven advice and analysis to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Deliver regular updates on financial performance, including forecasts for the DSG and SEND programmes.
  • Act as the lead finance professional for SEND-related financial matters, presenting at Senior Management Team (SMT) meetings.
  • Regularly update the Safety Valve model with detailed savings calculations.

About You
We are seeking a qualified accountant with a strong background in financial management and a proven ability to deliver in complex public sector settings.
Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Fully qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA, ACA, or equivalent).
  • Minimum of 3–5 years in a finance business partner role, ideally within local government or the public sector.
  • Advanced Excel skills for financial modelling and analysis.
  • In-depth understanding of DSG High Needs budgets and SEND funding mechanisms.
  • Experience managing Safety Valve programmes or similar financial recovery initiatives.
  • Exceptional written and verbal skills, with the ability to present complex financial information clearly and effectively.
