Baltimore Consulting are excited to be working in exclusive partnership with Lampton D&I  as we seek to appoint their new Development Director to the team.
Lampton D&I are a part of the Lampton360 Group of Companies, owned by and providing services for LB Hounslow. They build, buy and manage homes to meet LB Hounslow’s growth ambition and housing needs. They were established in 2017 and have delivered some strong results, they have also learned along the way.
In March 2021, LB Hounslow Cabinet approved an exciting new Business Plan for Lampton D&I.  Lampton D&I are on track with delivering this plan. They have achieved planning permission, have completed new homes, are buying homes at volume and are finalising a sector leading grant agreement with the GLA.
As the business plan sets out, we are moving away from the JV development partnership with EcoWorld that has been in place to deliver the 2017 business plan. And, establishing an inhouse development team to deliver our future plans. We are now looking to establish this team. everything they do.
LB Hounslow has significant growth ambition and through Lampton D&I, has agreed to deliver some exemplar development results – not just growth but social value, sustainability and local economic benefits.
 
Your key responsibilities as Development Director include:
Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will be responsible for identifying and successfully delivering all new build affordable and market sale homes for Lampton.
You will provide exceptional leadership, expertise and drive to enhance the companies reputation for delivery, innovation, quality and deliver ambitious growth targets.

  • You will lead, support and manage a team to successfully deliver the Development Strategy and the Business Plan.
  • To source and assess projects for viability and understand the territory around land use, assembly and understanding the dynamics and potential of the piece of land for development.
  • Ensure that there are effective contractual arrangements and partners in place for delivering the pipeline through direct contract framework and understanding urban design and the London Plan.
  • Act as the Principal Lead for Lampton on all new build matters and liaise with strategic partners, planners, statutory and government agencies, elected bodies, customer groups and related stakeholders to ensure successful delivery of the development programme.
  • Work effectively with consultants, group finance director and other key advisors to deliver strategic objectives.
  • Give direction, expertise and advice to partners and team members in all aspects of development including design, specification, project management, appraisal, negotiation, planning, risk and marketing.

Essential

  • 5-10 years experience of leading Development teams in delivering a programme of sites having managed the team through the entire site cycle.
  • Demonstratable access to extensive network of contacts across the built environment to enable completion of programmes.
  • Understanding of and the navigation of a sale through quality control which meets the expectations of the financial outcomes and can manage the risk involved.

Desirable

  • Responsible for all pre-construction work and will have a track record in securing new development business.
  • Success in achieving planning permission and establishing viable development proposals.
  • Experience within selling homes to corporate customers and through market sale.
  • Commitment to design and sustainability, having worked with the best architects in the area.
  • Experience working within a Local Authority.
  • Strong management experience having built and grown great teams.
  • Commercial sales outlook and experience.
  • Genuine problem solver with a ‘start-up’ mentality.

 
The panel are looking for an individual with strong leadership skills who promotes teamwork and holds a high level of integrity.
Initial competency interviews will be hosted by Baltimore with candidate shortlisting to take place with Lampton at the end of November. Candidates who are shortlisted will be invited for formal interview with Lampton at the end of December, with an anticipated start date of April 2022.
