£450 per day (Inside IR35)

We are currently seeking an experienced Adult’s Strategic Commissioning Officer (Carer’s Breaks) for a South East Local Authority. This is an excellent interim opportunity to make a meaningful impact on unpaid carers’ lives by shaping and enhancing respite services.


About the Role:

Unpaid carers play a vital role in our communities, yet many feel exhausted, stressed, and undervalued. This role focuses on developing and enhancing carers’ respite pathways, ensuring they have access to effective breaks tailored to their needs.
 
Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and collate current respite services available.
  • Define processes for assessment and funding, including self-funders.
  • Promote services to social work planners, healthcare, and voluntary sector partners.
  • Develop the market for respite care across different adult age groups.
  • Ensure fair and transparent commissioning of services.
  • Pilot innovative “taster sessions” to encourage carers to explore external care options.
  • Deliver a final report outlining the improved respite process and market options.
