You will step into a high-impact leadership role as Local Plan Delivery Lead, reporting directly into senior executive leadership and overseeing a Spatial Planning function of circa 50 professionals. Your focus will be clear: deliver a new Local Plan and Design Guide at pace under the evolving NPPF framework. This is your opportunity to shape long-term regional growth strategy while driving tangible progress in a politically sensitive, high-profile environment.

As Local Plan Delivery Lead, you will be at the heart of transformation, aligning people, priorities, and process to achieve delivery against ambitious timelines. You will build strong relationships with senior stakeholders, elected members, and cross-functional teams while embedding robust programme governance and accountability.

Your Role as Local Plan Delivery Lead:

• Establish a critical path timescale and implement robust project management frameworks
• Drive delivery of the Local Plan and Design Guide with visible, measurable progress
• Align resources and priorities across planning teams to meet core objectives
• Build relationships with senior stakeholders and elected members, maximising face-to-face engagement
• Ensure compliance with financial, procurement, and H&S governance

Your Previous Experience as Local Plan Delivery Lead:

• Significant senior Strategic Planning leadership within a Local Authority setting
• Proven track record delivering and adopting Local Plans
• Strong experience influencing senior stakeholders and statutory bodies
• Ability to lead, inspire, and mobilise teams in complex, resource-constrained environments
• Deep understanding of political landscapes and working with elected members
