As Housing Compliance Manager, you will report into the senior leadership team, leading specialist functions across a large and complex housing portfolio of over 6,000 buildings, with responsibility for an annual budget of c. £2.5m. This is a pivotal opportunity to shape compliance strategy, drive performance, and ensure the highest safety standards across multiple disciplines.   In this Housing Compliance Manager role, you will take ownership of critical safety areas including fire, asbestos, water hygiene, gas, electrical and lifts—ensuring full legislative compliance while embedding best practice and continuous improvement across the service.  

Your role as Housing Compliance Manager:

  • Lead the delivery of property safety compliance across a diverse housing portfolio
  • Act as the technical expert across fire safety, asbestos, water hygiene, and more
  • Drive audit, governance, and risk management, ensuring full regulatory adherence
  • Oversee contract management, procurement, and performance frameworks
  • Provide strategic leadership to teams, fostering engagement, accountability, and continuous improvement

You’ll also influence key stakeholders, advise senior leaders, and ensure robust reporting and performance monitoring is in place—making this Housing Compliance Manager role both operationally hands-on and strategically critical.  

Your previous experience as Housing Compliance Manager:

  • Proven leadership in property compliance within social housing or local authority settings
  • Strong technical knowledge across H&S legislation, building regulations, and safety compliance disciplines
  • Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, contracts, and large-scale programmes
  • Experience leading high-performing teams and driving sustainable service improvement
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and present complex information clearly
