Are you ready to take ownership of high‑value property disposals that directly shape long‑term public outcomes? This is a rare opportunity to step into a strategically critical estates role where your judgement, pace and commercial acumen will genuinely matter. Reporting into the Principal Estates Surveyor, you’ll be trusted to manage complex transactions end‑to‑end, influencing capital receipts and the future direction of a diverse estate portfolio.

As the Estate Disposal Surveyor, you’ll work across a broad mix of land and buildings, driving disposals and transfers from early appraisal through to completion. You’ll balance commercial delivery with public sector governance, operating with real autonomy while contributing to a long‑term asset strategy that looks decades ahead.

Your Role as an Estate Disposal Surveyor:

  • Lead end‑to‑end disposals of surplus and non‑operational assets, managing the full delivery cycle
  • Advise on value and strategy, supporting capital receipt targets and strategic objectives
  • Ensure compliance with Section 123 of the Local Government Act, maintaining robust governance
  • Develop business cases and options appraisals informed by feasibility and viability analysis
  • Instruct and manage agents and legal advisers, agreeing heads of terms and driving pace to completion

This role offers variety, influence and visibility. You’ll be inspecting a wide range of assets, including rural holdings, and collaborating closely with internal services, external agents and legal teams to unlock value while safeguarding public interest.

Your previous experience as an Estate Disposal Surveyor:

  • Degree‑level education (or equivalent) in a relevant property or estates discipline
  • Proven experience in estate management, with a strong focus on transfers and disposals
  • Ability to work autonomously, showing initiative, energy and sound commercial judgement
  • Confidence managing multiple stakeholders across legal, professional and internal teams
  • Local Government experience and/or chartered status (MRICS or Associate) is highly desirable

If you’re looking for a role where you can take real responsibility, move at pace and see the tangible impact of your decisions, this Estate Disposal Surveyor opportunity will not be on the market for long.
