Project Officer – Children’s Social Care Reforms
£250 – £275 per day (inside IR35) via Umbrella

5-6 months initial interim
Full time role – hybrid Working (2-3 days in office)

Baltimore Consulting are supporting a South London Local Authority who are seeking a Project Officer to support the delivery of high-impact projects aligned with the national Children’s Social Care Reforms. This is a fantastic opportunity for candidates with project coordination or delivery experience in public sector transformation, particularly within children’s services or social care.
Your role as Project Officer – Children’s Social Care Reforms:
- Support the delivery of key projects aligned to the national Children’s Social Care Reforms, including Family Help, Multi‑Agency Child Protection Teams, and Family‑Led Decision Making.
- Assist with project planning, coordination and tracking to ensure milestones, risks and dependencies are well managed.
- Contribute to the development of business cases, project plans, reports and improvement documentation.
- Monitor progress and provide updates to senior leaders, government bodies, and multi‑agency partners.
- Support statutory returns, inspection readiness activity and internal performance reporting.
- Undertake research, data analysis and feasibility studies to inform local transformation plans.
- Maintain effective working relationships across children’s services, partners and external stakeholders.
- Strengthen project delivery and organisational learning by supporting continuous improvement across Slough Children First
Your previous experience as a Project Officer:
- Experience in project support, coordination or transformation, ideally within children’s services, local government, or the wider public sector.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks, deadlines and priorities.
- Confident working with data, reports, business cases and analytical information.
- Excellent communication skills, able to engage stakeholders at all levels.
- A proactive, detail‑focused approach with the ability to work collaboratively in a fast‑paced programme environment.
- Comfortable supporting high‑profile projects and reporting into senior leaders.
- An understanding of children’s social care, safeguarding, or public sector change programmes (desirable)
