The Assistant Team Manager will support the Team Manager in leading the operational management and strategic development of the Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH). This role is integral to ensuring that vulnerable children and families receive a safe, efficient, and effective response, while promoting collaborative working with partner agencies.

Your Role as Assistant Team Manager:

  • Contribute to the Council’s strategy to support vulnerable children and families.
  • Assist the Team Manager in managing the performance of the MASH, ensuring compliance with safeguarding standards and timely, high-quality decision-making.
  • Provide support and challenge to partner agencies to ensure effective multi-agency working.
  • Manage allocated resources to deliver identified outcomes for children and families.
  • Deputise for the Team Manager and take responsibility for aspects of day-to-day team operations.
  • Chair multi-agency case discussions and reviews.
  • Ensure accurate record-keeping and maintenance of information systems.
  • Supervise and support staff, including Senior Practitioners, Social Workers, Assistants, Students, and Sessional Workers.
  • Monitor workloads, provide reflective supervision, and undertake appraisals.
  • Contribute to service planning, performance management, and quality assurance.
  • Promote the Council’s principles and values in all aspects of service delivery.

Your Previous Experience as Assistant Team Manager: To be successful in this role, you’ll need:

  • Significant experience in children’s social care, including safeguarding and child protection.
  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills within a statutory setting.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and departmental procedures.
  • Ability to manage performance and resources effectively.
  • Excellent communication and partnership-building skills.
  • SWE registration and commitment to continuous professional development.
