Interim Headteacher (Primary School)
Immediate start – to Easter Term (possibility of extension)

£400–£450 per day (Inside IR35 via umbrella)

Baltimore Consulting are exclusively supporting a South midlands based primary school who are seeking an experienced Headteacher to provide strong, steady leadership during a period of change. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real impact within a maintained school that’s part of the DfE’s RISE programme, with lots of local authority and external support already in place.
 
The successful candidate will be able to hit the ground running, guiding the school through its current Ofsted inspection window while maintaining a focus on raising pupil expectations and outcomes. You’ll be joining at a crucial time to ensure stability and momentum across staff, pupils, and the wider community.
 
Your Role as the Interim Headteacher:

  • Provide strategic and operational leadership across all areas of the school.
  • Work closely with the Deputy Head and wider senior leadership team.
  • Drive improvement in teaching, learning, and pupil outcomes.
  • Manage and support staff through change with confidence and clarity.
  • Lead through the DfE RISE improvement programme and prepare for Ofsted inspection.
  • Uphold safeguarding and inclusion across all aspects of school life.

 
Your Experience as an Interim Headteacher:

  • Proven Headteacher experience within a primary setting (Reception to Year 4 or 6).
  • Demonstrable success leading in challenging circumstances.
  • Strong understanding of school improvement, curriculum standards, and raising attainment.
  • Experience of working within a maintained school
  • Confident working within financial constraints and implementing change effectively.
  • Up-to-date enhanced DBS (barred list checks may be required).
