Reporting into the Strategic Director of Planning, Growth and Infrastructure you will be responsible for all Highway matters for the Local Authority.

About the Head of Highways role:

• To help deliver a cost-effective highways and maintenance service that meets governance and regulatory requirements, whilst meeting the needs of the community and supports the councils corporate priorities.
• Responsible for the financial management of the team budget as well as the capital expenditure budgets.
• You will design and manage a comprehensive strategy for procurement, commissioning, and delivery that includes in-house execution, collaborative partnerships, frameworks, term contracts, and project-specific agreements.
• You will lead the team on various projects that include Maintenance programmes, Street Lighting Capital Renewal programmes and Local Implementation Plans. 

 
Your previous experience as a Head of Highways:

• In-depth knowledge of council’s statutory obligations for this service, including; Traffic Management Act, Highways Act, New Roads & Street Works Act, Road Traffic Act and Countryside & Rights of Way Act.
• A proven track record of operating at this level within local government highways and transport.
• An ability to manage high profile projects and priorities, whilst able to successfully lead teams and departments.
• Excellent Customer Service experience ensuring they are at the heart of all you do
