Food insecurity is no longer a distant issue, it’s a growing reality for thousands of households in our community.
In 2024/25, Bristol recorded a historic high, with 2.3% of households (around 1 in 43) relying on emergency food support, according to the Bristol City Council Quality of Life Survey.
This local trend mirrors a national crisis. The Trussell Trust distributed 2.9 million emergency food parcels across the UK during the same period, a staggering 51% increase over the past five years. These figures paint a stark picture of the pressures caused by the cost of living crisis, rising energy bills, and high housing costs, all of which are pushing more families into food poverty.As we reflect on these statistics, it’s clear that community action and support have never been more important.
At Baltimore Consulting, our values go beyond recruitment. We believe in making a positive impact on the community we serve. This Christmas, we were proud to support Ignite Life, a Bristol-based charity that provides free, no-referral food support to individuals and families experiencing food insecurity.
Ignite Life’s food bank in Staple Hill is a lifeline for many, supporting around 257 people every week and delivering 24,000 meals annually. Over the course of a year, there are approximately 1,470 food-bank visits, reflecting both ongoing need and repeat visits from those in the community that rely on this service as a stable source of support.
During December, demand rises sharply due to increased heating costs, school holidays, and higher household expenses, making this support more critical than ever.
Thanks to the generosity of our team, we were able to donate food items to help families within our local community enjoy a warm meal and a little extra comfort during the festive season.
