We are working with a local authority in London seeking an experienced Structural Bridge Engineer to join their Highways and Infrastructure team on an interim basis.

This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the maintenance and improvement of vital transport links across a busy urban area.

About the Structural Engineer role.

  • Carry out structural inspections, assessments, and design work for bridges and highway structures.
  • Prepare technical reports, drawings, and specifications in compliance with relevant standards (DMRB, Eurocodes, etc.).
  • Manage and oversee bridge maintenance and strengthening projects, ensuring safety and quality standards are met.
  • Liaise with contractors, consultants, and internal stakeholders to deliver projects on time and within budget.
  • Provide expert advice on structural integrity, load capacity, and remedial solutions.

 
Your previous experience as a Structural Engineer:
 

  • Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Chartered or near-chartered status with ICE or IStructE preferred.
  • Experience within a Local Authority is essential
  • Proven experience in bridge engineering, including inspections, assessments, and design.
  • Strong knowledge of UK standards and regulations (DMRB, CDM, Eurocodes).
  • Excellent communication and project management skills.
