Reporting into the Service Director, this role will provide strategic leadership across the Council’s Commercial Asset Portfolio and Asset Disposal Programme, identifying opportunities to improve commercial returns and successfully disposing of surplus assets already earmarked for 2025–2026.
 
You’ll work with a £130m+ diverse portfolio including retail, industrial, offices, leisure, hospitality, community premises, and agricultural assets.
 
About the Strategic Commercial Assets Transformation Lead role:
 

• Define and apply criteria to assess the commercial performance of property assets
• Undertake a full audit of the existing portfolio
• Identify opportunities for enhanced commercial performance and/or diversification
• Develop and deliver a prioritised programme of asset improvements
• Track and report on outcomes, including financial benefits and savings

 
Asset Disposal Programme:
 

• Lead on the design and implementation of the Asset Disposal Programme
• Work collaboratively with Finance and key stakeholders to manage risks and time lines
• Coordinate internal service teams to manage transitions and re locations for vacating assets
• Oversee the full life cycle of the disposal process from identification to conclusion

 
Your previous experience as Strategic Commercial Assets Transformation Lead:
 

• The successful applicant will be expected to bring strong commercial insight, local government property experience, and RICS accreditation (MRICS).
• Proven background in commercial property, investment, and asset optimisation
• Comfortable leading multi-faceted property programmes with strategic and operational elements
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills, including across finance, legal, and service areas
• Experience balancing financial performance with community and policy objectives
