We are seeking a highly skilled and technically experienced Senior Performance Analyst to support our client’s Children’s Social Care service through a critical period of statutory reporting, Ofsted readiness, and internal transition. This interim role is required while the service looks to appoint a substantive postholder, and will take the lead on key statutory returns & monthly performance cycles working closely with Senior Leadership.

This is a pivotal opportunity for an experienced children’s services data specialist to ensure stability, compliance, and insight-driven decision making across the directorate.

About your role as Senior Performance Analyst – Children’s Social Care

You will be responsible for delivering and quality‑assuring core statutory children’s social care performance work, ensuring the service continues to meet national deadlines, inspection requirements, and internal reporting needs.

This role requires someone with deep technical expertise and an excellent working knowledge of children’s services datasets, able to pick up complex reporting quickly and operate with minimal oversight.

Key duties include:

  • Leading the full delivery of the Children in Need (CIN) Census including data preparation, validation, cleansing, troubleshooting, and submission.
  • Taking ownership of the 903 Looked After Children return, ensuring complete, accurate, and timely delivery.
  • Producing monthly Children’s Social Care KPIs, dashboards, and management information for senior leaders and operational teams.
  • Providing responsive reporting support to the service, including Section 47, Child Protection, Child in Need, Early Help and caseload reports.
  • Identifying and resolving data quality issues, working closely with operational teams to strengthen recording and improve statutory data accuracy.
  • Supporting preparation for Ofsted inspection, including producing required datasets, evidence, and analytical summaries.
  • Offering technical leadership and expert advice across the wider performance and intelligence team through high quality written data reports.

Your experience as Senior Performance Analyst – Children’s Social Care

  • Extensive experience delivering children’s social care statutory returns, including CIN and 903.
  • Strong technical capability in Power BI, SQL, and advanced Excel, with confidence maintaining and troubleshooting complex dashboards.
  • In‑depth understanding of Children’s Social Care workflows, including Early Help, Child Protection, CIN, CLA, and Section 47 processes.
  • Demonstrable experience producing KPIs, scorecards, operational dashboards, and senior leadership performance reports.
  • Ability to work at pace during a period of transition, maintaining accuracy and compliance across multiple statutory datasets.
  • Experience supporting local authorities during Ofsted inspection or inspection readiness.
  • Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex data clearly to non‑technical audiences.
  • Confidence working autonomously, prioritising competing deadlines, and providing expert insight and solutions.
