£50-£60 per hour (Inside IR35)
5-month initial contract

We are looking for a Senior Building Surveyor to join a local authority team on an interim basis. This position involves managing building regulation applications and inspections, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, and delivering high-quality services across the partnership area.
This is a fantastic opportunity to take on a varied and impactful role, combining technical expertise with project leadership across major developments and regulatory functions.

Key Responsibilities:

• As a Senior Building Surveyor, you will assess Building Notice and Full Plans applications and carry out site inspections.
• Provide expert advice to architects, engineers, builders, and the public on Building Regulations and related legislation.
• Undertake project management of major and complex schemes within and outside the partnership area.
• Respond to dangerous structures and enforce compliance, including out-of-hours work when required.
• Prepare reports, maintain accurate records, and support enforcement proceedings where necessary.

Essential Requirements:

• Degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline.
• Corporate membership of a recognised professional body (e.g., RICS, CABE).
• Expert knowledge of Building Regulations, Fire Safety, and Dangerous Structures legislation.
• Significant post-qualification experience, including project management of major developments.
• Strong communication, negotiation, and IT skills.
