SEND Complaints & Tribunals Officer
Interim role for 3 months +
Location: Kent – (ideally 1 day per week onsite)
Day rate:  £370/ day inside IR35 (via Umbrella company)
 
Are you passionate about supporting children and young people with SEND? We’re looking for a skilled and empathetic SEND Complaints & Tribunals Officer to help a Local Authority in shaping inclusive education services and resolve complex cases with care and professionalism.
 
Your role as a SEND Complaints & Tribunals Officer:

  • Represent the local authority at SEND tribunals
  • Lead on high-stakes casework, using mediation and negotiation to find solutions that work for families and schools
  • Collaborate with parents, legal representatives, and multi-agency professionals to resolve disputes and improve outcomes
  • Prepare evidence for complaints and ombudsman enquiries, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
  • Champion early resolution and reduce tribunal escalation through proactive engagement and tactful communication

As a SEND Complaints & Tribunals Officer you will have:

  • Deep knowledge of SEND legislation and the impact of special needs on EHC
  • Proven experience managing complex SEND cases and navigating tribunal processes
  • Strong interpersonal skills, resilience, and a solution-focused mindset
