SEND Safe Travel Officer
Interim – 12 Month Contract
North West England
£275–£325 per day | Inside IR35 (via umbrella)

 A local authority is seeking an experienced SEND Safe Travel Officer to support the safe transport of children and adults with complex needs, including those with SEND. You’ll lead on risk assessments, provide specialist advice, and ensure high‑quality, compliant Home to School and Adult Social Care transport.

Your Role as a SEND Safe Travel Officer

• Complete and review passenger‑specific risk assessments for children and young people with SEND.
• Advise parents, carers, schools, SEND teams, and transport operators on safe transport arrangements.

• Monitor contractor compliance and investigate transport‑related incidents.
• Attend multi‑agency meetings to plan safe transport for high‑needs passengers.
• Deliver training on specialist equipment and safe working practices.
• Manage your own caseload and travel across the county as required.

Your Previous Experience

• Experience supporting people with disabilities or SEND in education, care, health, or specialist transport settings.
• Strong background in structured risk assessment.
• Confident communicator able to manage sensitive or challenging situations.
