£47 per hour, 37 hours per week
Inside IR35 (via umbrella company)

Reporting into the Repairs Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring high-quality repairs. You will manage reports and deliver Damp and Mould specifications, supporting on compliance across the council’s properties, delivering excellent service to residents and stakeholders. You will also have strong technical knowledge and hands-on experience managing legal disrepair cases. This role combines traditional surveying responsibilities with legal repair diagnostics, party wall awards, and damp and mould management across council properties.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a varied caseload of legal disrepair claims, from initial inspection to post-works review.
  • Conduct property surveys to identify repair and maintenance needs.
  • Handle party wall awards, repair diagnostics, and referrals from the wider repairs team.
  • Deliver damp and mould specifications, ensuring compliance and mitigating legal liability.
  • Oversee contractors and ensure works meet health and safety and building regulation standards.
  • Provide technical advice and training to colleagues in the Technical Quality team.
  • Liaise with residents, lawyers, and internal teams to ensure service excellence.
  • Occasionally provide expert evidence in court and prepare witness statements.
  • Build strong working relationships with legal teams and repair departments.

Essential Experience:

  • Proven experience managing legal disrepair cases and complex repair diagnostics.
  • Strong understanding of damp, mould, and structural issues.
  • Experience in building pathology, property maintenance, and lone surveying.
  • Familiarity with UK building regulations, health and safety standards, and technical drawings.
  • Social housing experience is highly desirable.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Relevant building surveying degree or equivalent experience.
  • RICS membership (desirable but not essential).
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Asbestos awareness training (Regulation 10 – COAR2006).
  • SMSTS or equivalent qualification.
  • Organised, proactive, and confident managing your own calendar and caseload.
