Are you an experienced Registered Manager looking for a highly rewarding interim opportunity within a stable and well‑run Short Breaks home?

In this 6 month, maternity cover you’ll be joining a home with an exceptional culture, strong and committed staff group, and no Ofsted recommendations for over three years. This is an opportunity to provide steady leadership, strengthen practice, and support a new Deputy Manager during a period of transition.

Your Role as Interim Registered Home Manager

  • Lead the day‑to‑day management of a short breaks residential home for children aged 8–18 (no children under 11; occasional support up to 18+)
  •  Ensure full compliance with the Children’s Home Regulations and Quality Standards
  • Maintain strong safeguarding oversight (DSO responsibility sits with Out‑of‑Hours/IFD)
  • Support and mentor a newly appointed Deputy Manager
  • Oversee a stable, experienced team with excellent culture and low incident levels Work collaboratively with a single feeder team from the Local Authority (all children are Section 17)
  • Lead on quality assurance, care planning and consistent practice development
  • Manage operational challenges, including navigating a building that is not fully fit for purpose
  • Ensure care plans, risk assessments and individual needs are met to a high standard
  • Work 9–5 with up to 48 sleep‑in nights per year (typically well below this)

Your Experience as Interim Registered Home Manager

  • Registered Manager experience within Children With Disabilities (CWD) or short breaks desired but not essential
  • Strong knowledge of Children’s Home Regulations & Quality Standards
  • Level 5 Leadership and Management qualification
  • Confident leader able to maintain excellent culture and stability
  • Skilled in staff development and coaching emerging leaders
  • Experienced in managing safe, child‑centred services with minimal use of restraint
  • Ability to manage operational risk in a home with environmental limitations
