About the Role
Vulnerable children need high-quality services that improve their lives. As Quality Assurance and Practice Development Manager, you will play a vital role in evaluating the quality and impact of our practice so leaders can target improvement where it matters most. You will monitor compliance with statutory and local policy, produce evidence-based reports, and help shape better outcomes for children and families.

Your Role as Quality Assurance and Practice Development Manager

  • Undertake in-depth case audits with social workers and managers to evaluate practice quality and impact.
  • Gather and assess feedback from children, families, and professional partners.
  • Conduct thematic case sampling to report on specific elements of practice.
  • Use audit processes to coach social workers and managers, building strengths and addressing weaknesses.
  • Train and mentor managers in effective auditing techniques.
  • Audit supervision at child and practitioner level.
  • Moderate audits completed by others to ensure consistency and evidence-based judgments.
  • Analyse and collate audit findings for senior leaders to inform improvement and workforce development.
  • Present audit findings and lessons learned to practitioners, managers, and senior leaders.

Your previous experience as Quality Assurance and Practice Development Manager:
You will be a qualified social worker (DipSW, CQSW, or equivalent) with HCPC registration and significant experience in children’s social care. You’ll have:

  • In-depth knowledge of social work practice, legislation, and policy.
  • Strong audit and analytical skills, with the ability to triangulate evidence and identify trends.
  • Professional authority and confidence to influence at all levels.
  • Coaching skills to support practice development.
  • Ability to report findings clearly and objectively, both verbally and in writing.

Experience in social work management or leadership and familiarity with the Signs of Safety framework are highly desirable.
