This is an immediate requirement, and interviews will be held WC 15th of September.

You will play a key role in supporting the Public Health Team by providing expert economic modelling and cost-benefit analysis to inform commissioning decisions and strategic planning.

Your work will help strengthen evidence-based approaches to improving population health and wellbeing.

About the Public Health Officer role:

  • Develop and deliver economic modelling, including return-on-investment analysis of inspections and interventions.
  • Provide cost-benefit analysis to support decision-making in public health commissioning and strategy.
  • Support the evaluation of Public Health contracts (e.g., drug & alcohol services, smoking cessation, sexual health, and NHS Health Checks).
  • Contribute to evidence-based programmes and the integration of public health priorities across housing, environment, and community safety.
  • Work collaboratively with the Public Health and Strategy teams to ensure high-quality, equitable, and impactful services.

Your previous experience as a Public Health Officer:

  • Strong background in economic modelling and cost-benefit analysis.
  • Experience working with Local Authorities or wider public sector organisations.
  • Knowledge of public health and healthcare systems (experience in health-related roles highly desirable).
  • Ability to work independently with minimal support while contributing effectively to cross-team projects.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
