Reporting into the Property Partner, you’ll be responsible for delivering property-related solutions aligned with the council’s Asset Management Plans. This is a varied and hands-on role involving technical property advice, legal negotiations, and supporting the Right to Buy process.
Our Client is looking for a RICS or Associate RICS Surveyor to work specifically on Right to Buy applications. The ideal candidate will have experience with the Right to Buy process and property valuation. The working pattern is 3 days surveying / 2 days from home.
Your role as Property Manager:
• Provide professional and technical advice on property matters to council officers, stakeholders, and the public
• Negotiate legal agreements for land and property use, including rent reviews, assignments, and surrenders
• Manage operational assets leased to third parties
• Support property reviews and rationalisation projects
• Implement and develop procedures for processing Right to Buy applications under the Housing Act 1985
• Prepare and manage all aspects of council house sales, ensuring compliance with legislation
• Collect and report financial and performance data related to Right to Buy activity
• Occasionally visit customers to verify eligibility and validate property details
Your previous experience as Property Manager:
• Strong understanding of property legislation, policy, and best practice
• Experience in property inspections, valuations, and data reporting
• Skilled in negotiating legal agreements and managing property transactions
• Familiarity with Right to Buy processes and housing legislation
• Confident working with internal teams and external stakeholders
• Knowledge of RICS standards and commitment to professional development
