Project Manager – Mechanical & Electrical (Capital Programmes)

£370 per day Inside IR35 (via umbrella)
Initial 3-6 month interim contract
Full time role – Hybrid working (2 days p/week on site)

Baltimore Consulting are currently partnered with a public sector organisation to appoint a Degree-qualified Mechanical Project Engineer to support the delivery of a major Leisure Capital Programme, alongside a separately funded Capital Improvement Programme. You will work collaboratively with the existing engineers and play a key role in delivering mechanical elements of complex capital projects from design through to completion.
 
Your Role as Project Manager – Mechanical & Electrical:

  • Deliver key mechanical workstreams within the Leisure Capital Programme, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to specification.
  • Provide technical support and subject-matter expertise to the Capital Improvement Programme, advising on M&E upgrades and asset lifecycle improvements.
  • Manage external contractors and consultants, ensuring compliance with health, safety, and quality standards.
  • Oversee project budgets, including cost forecasting, procurement, and financial reporting.
  • Support commissioning and handover processes to ensure operational readiness.
  • Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders and existing project engineers, contributing to team-based delivery.

 
Your Experience as a Mechanical Project Engineer:

  • Degree-qualified (BEng / BSc) in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
  • Demonstrable experience delivering mechanical or M&E projects within a UK construction or capital projects environment.
  • Strong technical knowledge of HVAC systems, plant rooms, plumbing, and Building Management Systems (BMS).
  • Proven understanding of UK Health & Safety regulations, including CDM 2015, and relevant building regulations.
  • Confident communicator, able to engage with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Able to work effectively in a hybrid role, balancing site, office, and remote working.
