Compliance Project Manager – Housing Improvement

You will be responsible for leading compliance-focused transformation projects across the Council’s housing service.

This role is central to delivering sustainable improvements in safety, assurance, and regulatory compliance as part of the wider Housing Improvement Plan.

You will work at pace to redesign compliance processes, embed new governance structures, and drive cultural change across the service.

About the Compliance Project Manager – Housing Improvement role:

  • Lead delivery of compliance transformation projects to improve safety, assurance, and service quality.
  • Redesign policies, systems, and processes to ensure statutory and regulatory compliance is embedded across housing operations.
  • Collaborate with service managers, contractors, and corporate teams to implement new ways of working and strengthen accountability.
  • Improve data management and reporting to support better decision-making and regulatory assurance.
  • Provide clear and regular updates to senior leaders, governance boards, and external stakeholders including the Regulator of Social Housing.

Your previous experience as a Compliance Project Manager – Housing Improvement:

  • Proven experience leading complex projects within large organisations, ideally in housing or public sector.
  • In-depth understanding of housing compliance requirements (e.g. fire safety, gas, electrical, water hygiene, lifts, asbestos).
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver measurable improvements in compliance, safety, and service performance.
  • Strong project and programme management capabilities, including planning, risk mitigation, and governance.
  • Clear communicator, able to translate technical compliance issues into practical actions and accessible updates.
