Are you ready to step into a high‑impact role where your expertise will genuinely shape outcomes? As Planning Enforcement Consultant, you will operate at senior level, supporting the delivery of a robust, credible and modern enforcement service at a time when visibility, leadership and confidence really matter. Reporting into senior management, you will work alongside an established team of six officers, all in post, providing direction, assurance and hands‑on expertise on the most complex and sensitive cases.
This is a full‑time role (36 hours per week), operating on a hybrid basis with an expectation of 1–2 days per week on site. Your role as Planning Enforcement Consultant:
• Senior leadership of a planning enforcement function, providing confidence, direction and visible presence
• Hands‑on management of contentious and complex cases, including investigations, notices and appeals
• Driving service modernisation, improving processes, performance and customer outcomes
• Effective member engagement, briefing and advising on sensitive enforcement matters
• Coaching and supporting an established team to maintain high professional standards
Your previous experience as a Planning Enforcement Consultant:
• Substantial senior‑level experience within local authority planning enforcement
• Proven track record of leading teams through high‑risk, high‑profile cases
• Strong understanding of legislation, policy and best practice in enforcement
• Experience of service improvement and change within regulatory environments
• Confident communicator with officers, members and external stakeholders
