Reporting to the Major Works Delivery Manager, you will be responsible for leading a high-profile capital investment programme within a local authority’s Housing service.

This is a strategic role overseeing a £30M annual programme, including works to High-Rise Residential Blocks (HRBs), fire safety remediation, and energy efficiency upgrades.

About the Major works Project Manager role:

  • Lead the delivery of a borough-wide Housing Capital Programme aligned with the Council’s ambition to achieve 100% decency by March 2026.
  • Coordinate multiple workstreams including Fire Risk Assessment (FRA) remediation, Warmer Homes Grant-funded projects (£5M secured), and M&E upgrades.
  • Oversee the preparation of a consolidated Gateway 2 application to the Building Safety Regulator for HRBs, ensuring all required works are identified and aligned.
  • Provide oversight on specialist structural works, including concrete repairs, working closely with engineers and contractors to ensure quality and statutory compliance.
  • Deliver capital works that support improved housing standards, environmental outcomes, and socio-economic development.

 
Your previous experience as a Major works Project Manager:

  • Proven track record in managing large-scale housing capital programmes.
  • Strong stakeholder coordination across internal teams and external consultants.
  • Experience with regulatory submissions (e.g., Gateway 2) and compliance frameworks.
  • Understanding of specialist contractor markets and structural engineering works.
  • Relevant qualification (e.g., Degree, HNC/HND in Building or equivalent)
